Valuation & IP in Economic and Financial Consulting Intern
Who We Are
As the Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) practice, we support our clients as independent experts in managing complex disputes and advise on transformation processes and strategic decisions.
Through our compelling analyses of economic contexts, we have become the global market leader in this field.
We provide independent valuations of companies, equity stakes, and intangible assets in all situations requiring a well-founded assessment. We assist our clients, courts, and arbitration tribunals in resolving disputes within the context of litigation and arbitration or mediation proceedings. Another focus of our work is the valuation of companies and intangible assets during upcoming change processes or as part of risk management. Our interdisciplinary team includes economists, auditors, valuation experts, MBAs, statisticians, and econometricians. We work on diverse and challenging projects across a wide range of industries—from “old economy” to innovative business models like NewSpace or AI companies. We collaborate with international law firms, global corporations, DAX-listed and mid-sized companies, private equity funds, and family offices, and we also serve authorities or public prosecutors.
Our Economic and Financial Consulting team is based in Frankfurt.
We are seeking an Intern (m/f/d) for six months full-time in our Frankfurt office, starting in 2025 with flexible start dates.
What We Do
Examples of some of our recent projects include:
- Engaging in a post-M&A dispute related to a complex carve-out from a Dutch corporation, where we were tasked with demonstrating the value of a sold portfolio of intangible assets.
- Acting as experts to determine the market value during an internal sale of a large patent portfolio from Germany to China.
- Advising the board of a company on how to position itself in negotiations with a departing partner from a joint venture and assessing the values attributed to equity stakes and contractual agreements.
- Being commissioned to quantify the expected damages in an impending case of trademark infringement for a well-known consumer goods brand.
- Producing a fairness opinion for the acquisition of a promising biotech company by a private equity fund.
How You Can Develop
Our team is growing rapidly, and it’s an exciting time to join us. We work on fascinating projects across many different industries and in situations that are critical for our clients. As an intern, we offer you the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to a wide range of economic, valuation, and business issues. You will play a central role in our projects, clearly, precisely, and systematically analyzing and communicating our results.
We place great value on the development and promotion of our interns. We are particularly pleased when interns demonstrate exceptional engagement and talent during their time with us. Our goal is to retain such promising talents long-term. With strong performance and upon successful completion of the internship, we hope to offer you the opportunity to join us as a permanent employee.
Your Responsibilities:
After a comprehensive onboarding process, you will take on tasks including:
- Creating and reviewing financial models in Excel and with databases such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
- Conducting econometric analyses of industry and market data using statistical software.
- Researching companies, markets, or regions to understand the relevant industry characteristics for the project.
- Reviewing the regulatory landscape and drawing parallels to our client's industry.
- Summarizing your work in emails or memos, clearly presenting your findings and outlining their implications.
- Taking responsibility for the quality of the final product.
Requirements
We are looking for:
- You are fluent in both English and German.
- You should be in your penultimate or final year of your Bachelor's or Master's degree and be willing to undertake a 6-month paid full-time internship. The start date can be flexibly arranged.
- We welcome applications from all fields of study, but you should have a strong analytical mindset and be comfortable working with numbers.
- Previous work experience in consulting, finance, or another relevant analytical field would be advantageous.
- You pay attention to detail, learn quickly, and analyse complex data to identify connections.
