The Position Your Project We are at the forefront of building and fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) to use in clinical and preclinical studies. We want to create medicines that have a greater impact on society in a faster and more efficient way. The goal of this project, in particular, is to reduce the amount of animal testing needed to develop a drug by leveraging large preclinical datasets and cutting-edge LLM approaches at the forefront of science. This is a research project, meaning we will discover what works (& what doesn’t) together. You will join our team and own this project, with our support and guidance at every step of the way. Your Tasks * Own the preclinical segment of the project, with our support and mentorship. * Champion the preprocessing of preclinical datasets into LLM ready datasets. * As part of a global team, pretrain & fine-tune LLMs. * Evaluate the performance of LLMs against benchmarks. * If successful, support the publication writing process. Your Profile * Enrolled in a master’s program in data science, computer science, bioinformatics, or related field, with experience in R or Python, applied to data processing & machine learning. * Team player with great communication skills. * Strong interest in research and development (R&D), as well as willingness to learn and adapt quickly. * You are proficient in English and not afraid of talking Your Benefits * 2092 € salary per month for a full-time internship > 3 months * The possibility of accommodation in the Roche Boarding House or convenient transport connections to Munich with the Roche Shuttle * Join a cutting edge, global team spanning multiple R&D units. * Gain experience in drug discovery and development at a world leading pharmaceutical company. * If the project is successful, co-authorship on any resulting publications. * 6 months full-time, paid internship (length and start date negotiable), hybrid (i.e. with home office part-time option) at the Penzberg (Munich area) office.
