Join tozero as our simulations intern where youll have collaborate closely with our hydromet team to model our R&D efforts. This role is crucial as our R&D initiatives are designed to be scaled up to commercial levels and the models developed will be crucial to for our data engineers to work with directly contributing to the growth and success of the company. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in chemical engineering chemical process simulations (such as HSc chemistry ASPEN Hysys OLI Systems METSIM) or a related field who is passionate about advancing recycling technologies.

What Youll Do

• Simulation: Improve our simulation model and collect relevant R&D data points and form links based on kinetics and thermodynamics to improve the current tozero model with variable black mass inputs. This will not only be limited to process simulation but would also include modelling complex chemical reactions and Pourbaix diagrams.
• Financial and CO2 emission capability: Utilize the softwares capabilities further to display costing enhancing technoeconomics and calculating greenhouse emissions.
• Conduct HandsOn Experiments: Design and conduct experiments to collect necessary data points to further improve the model
• SelfManagement: Demonstrate strong selfmanagement skills by effectively prioritizing tasks managing time and driving projects independently while meeting deadlines.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with crossfunctional teams including Hydro Process and Finance and to translate software findings into tangible outputs leading to sound scalable processes.

What You Bring to the Table

• Strong Educational Background: A Ph.D. or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering Materials Science or a related discipline with a focus on hydrometallurgy or sustainable materials preferred.
• Strong Simulations Experience: Extensive experience during academia or previous internships in thorough chemical process simulations ideally in hydrometallurgy.
• Proven Research Experience: Experience in conducting research projects preferably in the recycling/materials processing/water treatment field with a track record of innovative problemsolving.
• HandsOn Skills: Strong handson laboratory skills with the ability to conduct experiments directly and analyze data effectively.
• Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively in a teamoriented environment demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills and stepping outside of your role when required.
• Passion for Sustainability: A deep commitment to advancing sustainable practices and making a meaningful impact in the recycling industry.
• Ideally you are available for a six month internship.
