Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), as a listed private equity holding company, acquires medium-sized companies in special situations, based in Europe, which show significant operational improvement potential and are sold again after undergoing a repositioning and stabilization process. Mutares actively support its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams and through strategic add-on acquisitions. The focus is on companies with revenues of EUR 100 million to EUR 750 million from the following segments: Automotive & Mobility, Engineering & Technology, Goods & Services and Retail & Food. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.
To support the strong development of our Munich office, we are looking for an intern (m/f/d) from April 2025 on to join our M&A team in Munich, Germany, for a period of 4 to 6 months.
Your Tasks
As an intern, you will support the existing investment team with the following tasks:
- Analyses of teasers and investment memoranda to identify suitable Mutares acquisitions.
- Assisting with financial modelling:
- Set up financial reports on a monthly basis
- Integration of assumptions to reflect the restructuring strategy
- Normalisation of working capital
- Analyses of debt and net debt items
- Prepare valuations to determine true enterprise value
- Support due diligence:
- Analyses of virtual data rooms
- Critical thinking to identify areas of risk
- Q&A preparation for expert calls
- Support in the preparation of offer documents
- Support in document preparation for potential exit transactions
- Support our Office Manager in administrative responsibilities for the Board of Directors
Your Profile
- At least a Tier 1 Bachelor's degree in economics (ideally with a specialisation in finance)
- Several completed internships, including experience in investment banking/M&A
- Excellent language skills in German and English
- Confident handling of MS Office applications (esp. Excel and Power Point)
- Team player & hands-on, independent thinking
- Working as part of a highly motivated, international, committed and agile team that enjoys working together
